Effective September 18, 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Refused LLC, a Washington limited liability company (“refused”, “we”, “us”). They cover your use of the app, the website, and the work we do on your behalf. Using refused means you agree to them. If you do not, please do not use the service.
Refused is available in the United States only. You must be 18 or older to use it.
You photograph a piece of unwanted mail. We work out who sent it and then contact that sender to ask that your address be removed from their mailing list. We usually do this by telephone. We tell you what happened.
That is the whole service. We are not affiliated with any sender, we are not a law firm, and nothing we do is legal advice.
This is the important part, so it is spelled out. When you submit a piece of mail, you authorise us to do the following on your behalf, and you confirm you have the right to authorise it:
You confirm that the addresses you add are ones you are entitled to act for, and that the mail you submit was addressed to you or to your household. You can withdraw this authority at any time by deleting the mail piece or your account, though we cannot undo a request already sent.
We ask senders to stop. We cannot make them. Most honour a request, some take months, and some ignore it entirely. Mail already printed or already in the postal system will still arrive.
So: we do not guarantee that any particular sender will remove you, that mail will stop, or that it will stop by any particular date. We do not guarantee we can reach every sender, or identify every piece of mail correctly. If we tell you an attempt succeeded, we are reporting what the sender told us — not warranting the outcome.
Refused is sold as a subscription, and some plans include a number of refusals you can use in a billing period. Prices and what each plan includes are shown in the app before you buy.
The photographs and addresses you submit stay yours. You give us permission to use them to run the service — to identify senders, contact them on your behalf, and show you what happened. We do not use them for anything else. Our privacy policy explains what we hold and for how long.
We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or that we reasonably believe is being used unlawfully or to harm someone. We will tell you why where we can. You can stop using refused and delete your account at any time.
The service is provided “as is”. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim all implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
To the fullest extent allowed by law, refused is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential damages, or for lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to what you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Some states do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this may not apply to you. Nothing here limits liability we cannot limit by law.
If we are sued or fined because of something you did — submitting mail you had no right to submit, authorising us to act on an address that was not yours to give, or breaking these terms — you agree to cover our reasonable costs and damages from it. We will tell you promptly if that happens and let you take part in the defence.
We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. Continuing to use refused after that means you accept the new terms.
We may also change, pause or discontinue any part of the service, or any plan, at any time.
Talk to us first. If something goes wrong, email support@refused.io and give us 30 days to sort it out. Most things end there.
Claims are individual. You and refused each agree to bring claims only in an individual capacity, and not as a plaintiff or class member in any class, collective, consolidated or representative proceeding. If this is found unenforceable for a particular claim, that claim proceeds on its own and the rest of these terms still apply.
Time limit. Any claim relating to the service must be brought within one year of when it arose, to the extent the law allows.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, without regard to its conflict of law rules. Any dispute will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Washington, and we each agree to that jurisdiction.
